An image editor for work that needs layers.

Go beyond a quick crop or resize. Bring your canvas, colour controls and layers together in one browser tab.

Layers and masks

Build a layered image

Combine image and text layers, use masks to control what is visible, and adjust individual parts of a composition.

PSD documents

Explore a PSD document

Open supported PSD documents without installing a desktop editor. Check the result carefully: fonts, effects and complex documents can differ.

On-device editing

Keep the work on your device

Choose files from your computer and download your results. The browser editor does not need a cloud document account.

How to use the online photo editor

From your first document to your finished export.

01 · Open

Launch PhotoCraft in a separate tab so you have room for the canvas and panels.

02 · Create

Create or open a document

Choose New document for a blank canvas, or Open to select an image or supported PSD from your device.

03 · Edit

Make your edits

Use the toolbar and Layers panel to work on your composition. Keep a copy of the original document.

04 · Export

Download your work before closing the tab. Reopen the result and check it before sharing.

What to know before you start

Keep your original files and check your exported results.

Early alpha

Check your document compatibility

PhotoCraft is an early-alpha editor. A feature appearing in a menu does not guarantee complete compatibility with another app. Large images and layered documents can use substantial browser memory, and the workspace is cramped on phones.

Save your work

Download before closing

This hosted web build does not provide cloud saves. Download your work before closing or refreshing the editor.

Online photo editor questions

Is this online photo editor free?

PhotoCraft is free and open source. This browser version does not require an account or a Hypermatic plugin subscription.

Are my photos uploaded to Hypermatic?

The editor processes your files on your device. Opening a file uses your browser's file picker. Saving and exporting downloads files to your device; Hypermatic does not provide cloud document storage for this editor.

Can PhotoCraft open PSD files?

PhotoCraft supports layered PSD and PSB documents. It is an early-alpha app, so compatibility varies by document. Keep your original file and check layers, fonts and effects before using exported files for production work.

Does it work on a phone?

The editor is designed around desktop panels and keyboard shortcuts. A laptop or desktop is recommended. Phones have limited space for the canvas and tools.

Is PhotoCraft made by Hypermatic?

PhotoCraft is developed by the ArtCraft team and its contributors. Hypermatic provides this hosting wrapper and makes separate Figma plugins.
