There are plenty of scripts that promise to convert HTML into Figma layouts. They usually result in tangled groups, inline styles, and a lot of cleanup. Convertify takes a different route: it focuses on high-fidelity conversions between design formats (Sketch, XD, PowerPoint, etc.) so the file you get back is actually usable.
Structured data beats guesswork
HTML-to-Figma scripts try to infer intent from code meant for browsers. Convertify works with structured design files, which means components, text styles, and layers remain intact. Less guesswork equals less rework.
Direction goes both ways
Scripts typically go from HTML into Figma only. Convertify handles exports and imports—PDF to Figma, Google Slides to Figma, Figma to After Effects, and more. That matters when you’re collaborating with a broad set of tools.
When scripts might still help
If you only have access to a live website and need a quick starting point, an HTML import script can be fine. But once a partner shares a real design file, Convertify delivers far better results. It’s the difference between tracing over a screenshot and editing the original layers.
Collaboration implications
When you rely on scripts, developers and designers end up arguing over layer order and naming because the imported structure is unpredictable. Convertify maintains the hierarchy you built, so teams on both sides can work confidently. That predictability matters when deadlines are tight or when multiple vendors contribute to the same project.
Recommendation
Use scripts for emergency inspiration; use Convertify for real collaboration. The latter keeps your design system intact, supports round-tripping, and respects privacy requirements—all things scripts usually ignore.
