An affiliate banner kit can leave the brand team looking polished and return months later with an expired price, a distorted logo, an unapproved claim, or a tracking URL pasted into the wrong destination. Unlike a centrally trafficked campaign, the files may be downloaded and placed by hundreds of publishers the brand never speaks to directly.

[Bannerify](/bannerify/) can animate banners in Figma, generate controlled variants from spreadsheet data, and export HTML5, GIF, MP4, or platform-ready packages. That scale is useful only when the kit tells partners exactly what they may change, what must remain fixed, and when every asset expires.

## Define the kit from the program rules

Start with the affiliate agreement, brand policy, current offers, target markets, and network requirements. Record:

- approved product and audience;
- claim substantiation;
- price, discount, or commission language;
- promotion dates and timezone;
- prohibited placements and keywords;
- trademark and logo rules;
- disclosure requirements;
- landing-page options;
- tracking-link method;
- market, language, and currency limits.

Do not convert a direct-response ad into an affiliate asset by replacing the click URL. Partners may need different disclosures, claims, and offer mechanics. If affiliates can write their own surrounding copy, provide examples and boundaries rather than implying the banner approval covers everything on the page.

## Decide what the publisher can customise

Split the creative into locked, selectable, and partner-supplied fields.

Locked fields may include the logo, claim, product image, legal line, animation, and offer end date. Selectable fields might include approved size, language, product category, CTA, or light/dark treatment. Partner-supplied data should usually be limited to the tracking destination generated by the affiliate network—not editable claims inside the artwork.

Create one matrix row per approved banner, with a stable creative ID, size, format, message, offer, market, language, landing-page family, expiry, version, and status. Generate only deliberate combinations. A spreadsheet that can produce 2,000 permutations does not mean the program can govern 2,000 promises.

This differs from a [co-branded display ad workflow](/articles/bannerify-co-branded-display-ad-workflow-for-partner-campaigns/). Co-branded campaigns usually involve named partners and joint approval; affiliate kits are distributed at scale to publishers who add their own tracking and may keep assets live long after a campaign changes.

## Build for uncontrolled placements

Partners may place banners beside dense editorial content, inside narrow sidebars, or on pages the brand has never tested. Every unit should identify the product and remain understandable without surrounding campaign context.

Design the smallest sizes first. Keep the first frame meaningful if animation is blocked, and make the final frame contain the core offer and CTA. Avoid putting the only qualification in a fast intermediate frame. At native size, confirm that the disclosure, price condition, and expiry remain readable.

Use Bannerify master layouts for aspect-ratio families, then adjust type, image crop, and timing for each size. Do not scale a leaderboard into a rectangle and call it a variant. Export a static backup for HTML5 units, and provide GIF or image alternatives only where the network accepts them.

## Keep tracking out of the artwork source

Affiliate identity normally belongs in the network-generated link or documented URL placeholder, not in a different binary export for every publisher. Define exactly where the partner obtains the tracking URL and how it is applied. If an HTML5 platform requires a clickTag or macro, provide a validated implementation and a test procedure.

Never distribute a kit containing a real affiliate's private identifier as the default. Use a conspicuous placeholder and make failure obvious. Test redirect chains, HTTPS, mobile landing pages, geography, consent behaviour, and the fallback when a product or offer is unavailable.

The [HTML5 banner trafficking handoff checklist](/articles/bannerify-html5-banner-trafficking-handoff-checklist/) covers packaging and click validation. Affiliate distribution adds self-serve instructions, publisher-level tracking, and a longer tail of assets outside the central media team's control.

## Package guidance with the files

Organise the download by market, campaign, format, and size. Include a manifest containing creative IDs, pixel dimensions, file weight, offer dates, destination family, and last-updated date. Add a concise usage guide explaining:

- how to generate and test a tracking link;
- which elements must not be altered;
- required affiliate disclosure;
- where the banner may not appear;
- how to request another size or language;
- how updates and withdrawals are announced;
- support contact for broken files or links.

Use filenames that map back to the manifest, such as `AFF-PRO-EN-300x250-HTML-v04.zip`. “banner-final.zip” becomes impossible to govern once it leaves the portal.

## Test the kit as a new affiliate would

Give the package to someone who did not build it. Ask them to find the correct unit, apply a test tracking link, publish it in a sandbox placement, trigger the click, and identify the expiry date without private instructions.

Validate native-size readability, animation duration, loop behaviour, file weight, clickTag or URL replacement, backup creative, offer terms, landing-page match, and tracking attribution. Capture the approved previews and network validation results.

When an offer ends or a claim changes, withdraw the creative in the affiliate portal and notify active publishers. Where possible, use centrally managed creative serving so replacements propagate. Keep evergreen fallback assets ready, but do not silently swap a promotional promise for a different offer.

Bannerify speeds up controlled variant production and export. It cannot force a publisher to remove an old file or prove that a tracking link credits the right account. A strong affiliate kit combines production efficiency with explicit rules, testable tracking, and a retirement path for every creative released into the wild.
